The Former UEFA President who is serving a 4-year ban for unethical money transfers has made an astounding confession regarding the FIFA World Cup France 1998 where the home side lifted the trophy in a 3-0 win.

The tainted former player Michael Platini is currently serving a four-year ban from administrative duties of the football governing bodies. His original eight-year ban was reduced to four-year in the case of accepting money from Sepp Blatter for illegitimate actions.
The Ballon d’Or winner from 1983 to 1985 was made the co-president of the organizing committee for the FIFA World Cup 1998. He admitted that the tournament schedule was fabricated in a way to favor a final between France and Brazil. The two of the best teams with star players such as Zidane, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo Nazario De Lima etc.
In a recent interview at the French radio station France Bleu Sport (the full interview will be broadcasted on Sunday), the 62-year-old was asked about the ‘dream final’ between France and Brazil to which he laughed and admitted the masterplan for the favorable draw.
“France-Brazil in the final, it was the dream of everyone.”
“There was a little trickery. We did not spend six years organising the World Cup to not do some little shenanigans. Do you think other World Cup hosts did not?”
Brazil were the defending champions so they naturally went in Group A, while France were placed in Group C which meant the teams could only meet in the Final.
Zinedine Zidane scored a brace in the 3-0 victory for the Les Bleus which helped them win the title for their nation.
The practice of placing teams into the groups was originally done to prevent matches amongst same continental teams. FIFA World Cup Italy 1990, the six top seeds were assigned to groups A to F in order.
Previously, England were placed in the “London group” at both the 1966 World Cup and Euro 96, so that they would play all their games at Wembley.
