The American based magazine which is published bi-weekly is renowned for its financial analysis and ranking the wealthiest people in the world of each category such as richest 30 people under 30 years of age, athletes in overall sports, athletes per sport, the net-worth of companies and sports teams etc.
In the latest edition of the Forbes magazine, Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer the highest paid athlete but he also is not able to claim the second spot this time. In the list for the year 2017 which Forbes released on Tuesday Floyd Mayweather claims the top spot yet again after his iconic boxing match with Conor McGregor which was the most expensive boxing duel in the history.

With his 4th feature on top of the list in last 7 years, Floyd Mayweather has made himself quite accustomized to the Forbes list. The 50-0 boxing champion earned $285 million.
2) Leonel Messi

The Barcelona man has been featuring in the list for quite many years now. The La Liga Champion earned $111 million.
3) Cristiano Ronaldo

The bout with Floyd Mayweather may not have earned him a victory but it has earned him a lot of money. Conor Mcgregor earned $99 million.

Sports wise the list had 3 footballers, 2 basketball players, 2 athletes from combat sports, 2 from American football and finally the lone wolf, Roger Federer representing Tennis.
The earnings may have been considered as a success by many of the names mentioned but that’s not the case for Cristiano Ronaldo who is reportedly upset with his low earnings than anticipated. The Real Madrid man has asked his club for an improved contract which will make him the highest paid footballer on the planet or else he will be looking for another club which will happily offer him the wages he asks for.
The Portuguese footballer will now travel to Russia for FIFA World Cup 2018 where he will captain his national side as Portugal kicks off their campaign against Spain on 15th June 2018 at 7:00 PM CET.
