The record holder of most European titles won by an individual has expressed his views on the UCL final in Kiev, Ukraine.
In a recent event in Madrid, the former left winger gave an interview to the Spanish news outlet AS. Here is what Francisco ‘Paco’ Gento had to say on Zidane’s chances of leading his team to the 3rd consecutive UCL title:
“Everyone gets excited by these kinds of games- everyone wants to be there to support the team and cheer them on to win another European Cup – and continue this great run we’re in and which we have always enjoyed.
Madrid cannot let this chance slip – finals are to be won, not played and Real Madrid know what is at stake. That goes without saying, it will be a piece of cake.”
The honorary president of Real Madrid is positive of the outcome and believes his side will emerge victoriously.
Gento was part of the Di Stefano’s Real Madrid which won 5 consecutive European Cups (1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960). Gento won another European Cup in 1966 which made him the player with most European titles ever since.
His generation continues to play in Madrid with the latest player in the squad being Llorente.
The Spaniard has admitted he won’t be traveling to Kiev but will be supporting Real Madrid and will watch the live telecast of the match.
The 84-year old was made the honorary president of the club in October 2016. The post was earlier occupied by Alfredo Di Stefano.
The UCL final will be played on 26th May 2018 at 7:45 PM CET. The match will be telecasted live by the official broadcasters of UEFA.
